MAKING

It's a bit of an obsession

It started like most things... small... just a module or two. I'll just keep it to one 9U, 84HP rack and stop. That didn't really last long. The next thing I knew it was Volcas, midi keyboards, effects pedals, mixers, and sequencers... oh my! As my gear collection grew, so did the need for things to reign in the madness. In typical fashion, I thought to myself, "I can make that!"

I follow a few simple principles...

  • Make useful things that fill a need
  • Make thoughtful design decisions
  • Make things well
  • Stand behind what you make
  • Treat people well

For me, modular synthesizers are a blend of retro analog and modern digital technology that speaks across decades of music (and decades of my life). You can DIY with resistors, capacitors, and a few ICs or you can buy modules with embedded plasma tubes—what the what! So much of modular is made up of cottage industries working to make the best and most unique modules and components. Independent, scrappy makers are a vital source of innovation and it's a joy to be a part of that community. The Eurorack thing, and it can be so many things, truly speaks to the art-nerd in me.

I hope what I create becomes part of fabric of the sytems that creators use to find both personal fulfillment and to create works of acoustic brilliance that can be shared with the world. To do that, I am personally committed to creating the highest quality modular products in both fit and finish. We pour so much time, emotion, creativity, technical savvy, and money trying patch infinite possibilities into something that speaks to us. Every element of that journey, should feed, inspire, and facilitate that outcome.

We're a community of collaborators. I'm looking forward to seeing what our cabal can get up to!

Cheers!
